WOLFGANG DAUNER - Output (ECM 1970)

I got this from rutracker torrent site and somebody (possibly original uploader - thank you mishka1981) was carrying enough to make complete early ECM-like CD artwork for it. I found it while searching for Eberhard Weber and realized later that this is his first ECM date ever. Probably one of the weirdest albums on the label, it was well described by Tyran Grillo on his "between sound and space" blog:

An early outlier in the ECM catalog, Output convulses with as much lively originality as it did when it was first released. Wolfgang Dauner, perhaps better known as founder of the United Jazz + Rock Ensemble, assembles a modest trio of talent for this classic 1970 studio free-for-all. The end result is humor, provocation, brilliance, and chaos all rolled into one. (...) Superb, if jumbled, musicianship and a strong attention to detail make for a unique experience all around. Dauner does wonders with limited means, Braceful sheds his skin at every turn, and this is a far cry from the Weber of the languid orchestral suites. Not an easy listen for the faint of heart, but one that will give back what’s put into it. Viable candidate for quirkiest album cover of all time?

If memory serves, this was my first exposure to Wolfgang Dauner, at about the same time I was first hearing Soft Machine, King Crimson, 'Bitches Brew' and the first Weather Report album. I don't think I've heard it in 20 years so this will be a treat. Many thanks, miloo2!

Thanks for this . . . I have had the album since the late 70's and even already had this rip with the attractive ECM style artwork but did not have the individual tracks.

Thanks for this, one I had as mp3 only. Not sure if it was just a problem with my download, but the flac sendspace version wouldn't expand ('...file is broken') with 7zip, even though JDownloader said download was OK. I downloaded again from ulozto & that was fine. I did notice sendsapce & ulotzo were reporting slightly different file sizes.

Bventure, packed file was exactly the same on both sendspace and ulozto, I think difference in size is just matter of various ways of displaying. I was not checking sendspace by downloading back, it was already snatched more than 80 times (while ulozto reports 37 downloads for flac) and nobody reported any problem. Truth is that this was my rare success with uploading to sendspace using their 'wizard', as many other times upload corrupted at 99,9% and was never finished.

Something must have gone wrong with my download then - unusual, JDownLoader is genrally very reliable. Anyway, no matter, great album & I've got it OK now, thanks again.
